Peaches are very sensitive due to their high water content. Even if you pay careful attention to buying fruit without pressure points when shopping, the sensitive fruits can still be damaged during transport. If the peaches are already very ripe, you should eat or prepare them as soon as possible. Always store peaches in the refrigerator, preferably in such a way that the individual fruits do not collide with each other.
If the fruits are not yet fully ripe and need to ripen, they can be stored at room temperature for a few days. Ripe, intact fruits can only be stored in the refrigerator for a few days, as they become lazy quickly. If you want to enjoy fresh peaches for longer, it is best to freeze them or preserve them as compote or jam.

Although fruit is generally very healthy, a peach also has calories – but only about 40 calories per piece, and almost no fat. Peaches contain high amounts of calcium, potassium and magnesium. Peaches have a naturally calming effect, which can even help with an acidic stomach. They are an ideal snack because they are very satisfying. Peaches belong to the rose family and are closely related to almonds. This can be seen, among other things, in the fact that peach kernels can be processed into persipan, a substitute for almond marzipan. Always wash the peaches shortly before consumption. Otherwise, the fruits absorb too much moisture and can spoil faster when stored in the refrigerator.
